Honor Flight Syracuse Newsletter (Winter 2025)

Memories and Mission go hand-in-hand
Honor Flight Syracuse creates lasting memories for our veterans and their families. And we couldn’t dream of doing it without your generous support. Please take a few minutes to read, watch and listen to the stories that YOU make possible as donors and volunteers. THANK YOU!
Delaney Brothers make Honor Flight a family affair
Jim and Dan Delaney served in Vietnam more than 50 years ago. Today, they continue to serve their veteran community in Manlius.
At The Wall: “That’s where my heart goes”
Marine Veteran Sparky Sikes has been to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington three times. But his third visit, with Honor Flight Syracuse Mission 21, was different.
“You appreciate what you have here in the States”
And Honor Flight Syracuse appreciates the donors and volunteers who make our missions possible.
She’s been with us from Mission One.
For every trip to Washington since we started in 2012, Teresa Lockwood has put the “Flight” into Honor Flight Syracuse.
We need your bottles and cans!
We depend entirely on private donations to fly our veterans to Washington. One of the great ways YOU can be part of Honor Flight Syracuse is to save your returnables and bring them to Destiny USA on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 from 9 am to 5 pm either day.
Congratulations Steve Nee!
Honor Flight Syracuse’s volunteer coordinator Steve Nee is receiving his own special honor. The Central NY Business Journal has named Steve the “Volunteer of the Year” for non-profits!
Clear Path CEO: “Willing to be vulnerable” is where healing can begin
Ryan Woodruff served two tours of duty in Iraq with the Marines. In his first deployment, 14 members of his unit didn’t make it home. Ryan’s service as an infantry rifleman left him with a host of unresolved issues.
Why your gifts of time and treasure to Honor Flight matter so much: Read what our veterans and their families say
From Dan Ferens: “…I received an unexpected mailing from Honor Flight…that beautiful commemorative book…Being on Honor Flight 21 was one of the best experiences in my lifetime, so this is a wonderful keepsake. I have given speeches about my experiences to my Toastmasters Club and a Rotary breakfast and urged veterans to sign up for Honor Flight…keep up the great work and thank you again for the book.”
