“When will I fly?”

Honor Flight Syracuse flies 82 veterans on each mission. Our list of veterans waiting to fly is long. We are grateful for your patience. Here’s how the process works:

Veterans fly on a first-come, first-served basis. Within the applicant pool, top priority is currently given to World War II veterans, Korean War veterans and Vietnam veterans, in that order, followed by veterans from more recent service eras. Veterans with serious health conditions are given higher priority to fly no matter when they submitted their application.

For those who’ve already applied, if there have been no health changes, they will receive a postcard in the mail prior to the mission they will be invited to fly. If the application has already been filed, rest assured that we have it on file. There is no need to reapply. Veteran applications are carefully reviewed by the Honor Flight Syracuse Health & Safety Team to ensure that our Veterans are kept safe and their needs are met.

If there has been a recent change in health status, please set up a health screening phone call either by e-mail: contact@honorflightsyracuse.org…or call 855-433-5633.

Right now, for healthy Vietnam veterans, the wait time to fly is approximately 3 years from the date they apply.
